How We Help
OHS has three main programs to support our local animals and local people in our communities.
Our Rescue Program serves local lost, abandoned, and feral animals by capturing them and ensuring they receive all necessary medical attention needed.
Our Pet Assistance Program serves our local animals and local people who face income barriers to ensure their pets receive basic medical attention needed. Much of the support we provide is for low income spay and neuter services.
Our Foster and Adoption Programs serve our local animals to ensure they receive a safe, loving new home when ready!
Who We Are and What We Do
We are local people helping local animals.
We are a passionate, dedicated team of volunteers working together to save lives and end the suffering of local animals in our community.
Established in 1996, OHS has been rescuing animals and providing spay and neuter services to help with pet overpopulation.
Since inception, OHS has spayed or neutered more than 27,000 animals and last year we helped more than 1,500 local animals in need.

Nugget is a very loving, sociable and talkative critter. He loves to play, and it would be delightful for him to be homed with other cats, but near his own age of approximately 2 years. If no other cat, then someone who wants to play with him. He enjoys wet food and loves it as a supplement to dry and gets it twice a day in his foster home. He also LOVES Temptations and will come running on the shaking of the bag. Nugget does have a slight head tremor, but it hasn’t affected him in any way. It only shows up when he is a little stressed or excited, nothing to cause any concerns about. Nugget is Fixed, Vaccinated, Microchipped and Dewormed. This guy is a beautiful soul, and it will be hard to give him up, but to whomever gets him, you will have the greatest of friend and soul mate. 9 years old FEMALE CAT.
Kitty (aka Artica) needs a loving person in a calm environment. She was an abandoned kitten found in a cardboard box barely weaned on the side of the road by my son. Contact Jude in Kelowna 250-215-4367
Kitty is very vocal and likes to chat, she loves and responds well to treats. Kitty gets along with our dog but may find a new dog challenging. She has never been introduced to another cat.
Kitty can be loving, affectionate can purr loudly and likes to cuddle at night and in the mornings usually waking you with a morning chatter.
Kitty is cautious and timid she will hiss if surprised or perceived a threat, she doesn’t like being picked up but will not resist if necessary.
Kitty likes to lay on her tower but seems to prefer napping on top of the couch.
Not much of a player but likes to chase paper and foil balls especially down the stairs. Kitty also likes to sit in the sink while you shower.
Kitty is her own person and will become a nice companion given time and on her terms. She may growl if scratching overstimulates her letting you know to stop.
