Chuckles Is Looking For His Second Chance

Chuckles was rescued last week by Oliver Dog Control in the South Okanagan and when unclaimed, was brought to Okanagan Humane Society to be given a second chance.

OHS partners with Dog Control throughout the Okanagan and is often called on to rescue homeless or abandoned dogs.

Although we receive fewer calls for dogs throughout the year, the calls that we do get are urgent.

As is a volunteer powered, foster-based animal rescue, the first thing we did as an organization was come together to find a warm and loving place for Chuckles to land in temporary foster in Naramata, then provided Chuckles with veterinary care in Kelowna, including: vaccines, dewormer, microchip ID and neutering.

Thankfully, Carla in Kelowna, reached out to foster Chuckles in her home, providing him with the food, shelter, love, and exercise routine he needs while we help him find his forever home.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we can give Chuckles the second chance he deserves.

It took the team at Oliver Dog Control, our veterinary partner, loving fosters, plus the generosity of OHS donors and skills provided by volunteers to co-ordinate this rescue. When it comes to saving the lives of animals, it truly takes a village.

Now, we are on to the final step: Finding Chuckles his forever home.

Chuckles is a sweet 2-year-old Mastiff cross with good behaviour and sloppy kisses. He gets along well with other dogs, especially older settled males and playful females. Big sloppy kisses, cuddles, and head butts are his thing. He may be okay with cats, and middle to older aged children, due to his size. He is in need of a fenced yard and lots of room to run.

Vet cost recovery for adoption is $300 to help cover vaccines, dewormer, microchip and neutering that have all been completed.

If you are interested in adopting, please contact Romany at 250-862-1794 to meet and apply.
