Thank You for Helping Us Save 4,000 Lives in 2024

The Okanagan Humane Society extends its thanks to donors, community members, and volunteers for helping animals throughout the Okanagan Valley this year.

2024 was our busiest year to date, with a 20% increase in Rescue Program reports, a 35% increase in requests for help through the Pet Assistance Program including emergency medical care and low cost spay/neuter, and more than 1,000 successful adoptions facilitated through our Adoption Program.

Between our Rescue and Pet Assistance Programs, we proudly helped more than 4,000 animals this year – more than ever before – with cases continuing to pour in.

As we enter a new year, we want to acknowledge that OHS cannot operate without the people who make it possible for us to say “yes” to local animals every single day.

Our 20+ veterinary partners throughout the valley provide a safe space for animals to land, and take great care of our animals with basic and emergency medical care.

Our community volunteers offer their time and resources to help rescue lost, abandoned and homeless animals, and ensure that they make it safely off of the streets and into the office of one of our veterinary partners for medical care.

Our volunteer fosters offer temporary shelter, supplies, and plenty of love to animals as they recover from surgeries, decompress and learn to trust, and help facilitate their adoptions to forever homes.

Our donors, big and small, make it possible for every animal to get the help that they need.

We anticipate the need for our services to be just as great, if not greater, in 2025, with thousands more animals living in communities throughout the Okanagan Valley relying on us for help.

Moving forward into 2025, we are looking for more volunteers, especially volunteer fosters. If you can help, please fill out our volunteer form so we can work together.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to help provide medical care and the potential to save the life of a local animal in need.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. As a member of our community, you have made a difference in the lives of local animals this year – and with your continued support, the Okanagan Humane Society will continue to be a life-saving resource for local animals in 2025 in beyond.
